Tonight's entertainment is a little board game called Tiny Epic Dinosaurs. This is a 1-4 player game, designed by Scott Almes and published by Gamelyn Games in 2020. It's a small game, but packs a punch.
How to win: By having the most points by the end of 6 rounds.
How to gain points: By fulfilling contracts.
👈A contract will contain 3 specific dinosaurs and if you are able to obtain these specific dinosaurs, you can fulfill the contract and get the points listed on the card.
How to get dinos: You have at least 4 actions per round that you can use to get them. To take your action, you move your little worker (you have 4) to a spot of your choice on the board, then you simply do that action. Here is an example of some actions you can take.👉
But the challenge is that you have to think of how you are using your actions. You see there are 19 different actions you can choose from. But other than dinosaurs, you also need to obtain fences and food for the dinosaurs (meat and plants). If you don't have fences to enclose the dinosaurs by the end of the round, bad things happen. If you don't have enough food) for the dinosaurs, bad things happen again.
But watch out! Each action can only be taken by one person. So if you’re needing a red dinosaur but your opponent already put their worker there, you cannot place your worker there. What you CAN do is either put 2 workers there or put your bigger worker on that spot (you get 3 little workers and one big one), which will limit the number of actions you have this round. So it may be a priority to use a worker on an action spot that also gives you the First Player Token, which allows you to take the first turn and your choice of any spot on the board before anyone takes the spot you want.
So you manage your ranch in getting dinos, keeping them secured and fed and fulfilling contracts to get the most points. And you have to do that with just 4 actions per round for 6 rounds.
And basically that's it. There's a few more rules and twists, but that's basically it. It really is easy to learn but takes some strategy to win.
